Layer Folders Concept Screenshot Layer Folders
Concept for an Enhancement to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

It's not uncommon for designers (like me) to have many dozens or perhaps hundreds of Layers in an Adobe Photoshop master image file. This can make a scroll up and down that palette lengthy and tedious.

Wouldn't it be a simple matter for Adobe engineers to incorporate my idea of "Layer Folders" into the Layers palette interface? To the right is a screenshot of how this enhancement might appear:

It would eliminate the tedium of scrolling up and down through all the individual layers in that palette. Users can click on or off an entire folder while individual layers in a folder can be set for visibility and opacity just as current versions.

Users may even be able to set opacity and other layer interactivity options for the entire folder (relative to the individual layers therein). Wouldn't that be a great enhancement to the Layer palette for all of us?

Layer Folders may be just as helpful for users of Adobe Illustrator and their new InDesign products as well and I've had encouragment and support for this idea as a feature that could be implemented across all Adobe products that have layers.
