This original stock image had a runner sliding toward home with the catcher tagging him out. Core to the concept of the ad, however, the catcher needed to be adjusted so that the runner is "safe at home."

In Photoshop 5, I duplicated the part of the image containing the catcher and removed the background. I was careful to keep the shadow in the dirt as part of the catcher image layer. I needed to recreate the part of his mit that was behind the runner's arm. I then hid from view the catcher layer and cloned dirt and grass to fill the area where the catcher formerly was.

I could then move the catcher to the right as far as necessary to clearly communicate the concept. I saved a flattened CMYK TIFF
version of the image and imported it into QuarkXPress to complete construction of the print ad for output to film.
