The ability to annotate records is an important key for a good CRM (Customer-Relationship Management) application and, with BigSender's special "annotations" field type, maintaining contact histories or appending records with administrator notes is easy. Below is an example of the BigSender subscriber form displaying record data with "annotations" enabled.

How to enable BigSender Annotations
  1. Login as a BigSender administrator.

  2. Click the "settings" button to access the BigSender Configurator.

  3. Scroll down to the Custom Fields section and, in the first blank field, type the name you want for your new field. ("notes" or "contact history" are often used by contact list administrators.)

  4. Type the new field # for the location in each record where the new data will be stored and leave the "max" field empty

  5. Click on the "field type" pulldown menu and select the ANNOTATIONS option and leave the remaining fields in that row blank and click the "save settings" button at the top right or the bottom right of the Configurator settings page.

Viewing or Adding Annotations In a Record

  1. If you know the email address of the record to which you would like to view or add a note, type it in the subscriber form's "email" field, check the "modify" task option and click the "do it" action button.

    Or

  2. If you don't know the email address of the record to which you would like to view or add a note, type the person's last name or other relevant information in the "contact" field and click the "find" button. From the resulting Contact Manager page, click "details" link to view that record's annotations or click the "edit" button to add notes.

  3. The resulting subscriber form will contain all the data for that record along with any previous annotations (below the "modify" button and an "add notes" field in which you may append the annotations with a new note which, when you click the "modify" button, is automatically preceded with a timestamp and the username for the logged-in administrator who made the note.
