BigSender Administrator Guide
List Cleaner
Once you've logged in as the BigSender administrator and have set the location of your list in the Configurator, BigSender will automatically display a "clean" button among the admin controls if your list contains any reccipients.
When to Use BigSender List Cleaner
If you have connected BigSender to a list not built by BigSender.
If your Message Broadcast sessions do not complete or are otherwise aborted – especially when your broadcast alert reports the session ended at or near the same record number as previous broadcast attempts.
How to Use BigSender List Cleaner
Once you're logged in as the BigSender Administrator, click on the "clean" button among your admin controls. An alert popup may warn you that "this could take a while..." and permits you to cancel
BigSender automatically processes your list and performs the following tasks:
- attempts to repair incorrectly structured email addresses
- removes incorrectly structured email addresses that cannot be repaired
- removes duplicate records (those containing an email address previously encountered while processing). If one of the duplicates includes an email address appended with .unsubscribed, .ban, .bounced or .fraud, that record will be kept and any subsequent duplicates will be removed.
- interactively reports to you BigSender List Cleaner's status as it processes your list
- Upon completion of processing, BigSender will present to you a final "complete" button to click if any records were repaired or needed to be removed from your list
Click on the final "complete" button and BigSender will automatically create a backup of your original list and will automatically load your newly cleaned list.
Recovering Your Original List
If you should ever want to reference, recover or download for reference purposes your original list that was automatically backed up by BigSender List Cleaner, it may be located by AdminPro or other FTP software in the same directory as your source file and is named "yourlist-bu.ext" (where yourlist is the actual name of your source file and ext is the extension of your original source file).
